The 20 Beaches Ocean Classic 2013

Last saturday the 20 Beaches Ocean Classic was held in Australia. The race took place between Freshwater Beach and Palm Beach. The conditions were perfect and it became a really fast race.

Jeremy Cotter took out the 24 km downwind race in cracking conditions with Murray Stewart in 2nd and Bruce Taylor in 3rd. Jeremy averaged 17.8 km/h! The most important performance of the day was an unselfish act by Tim Jacobs. Jacobs was in the front racing for a top position when he stopped to assist a paddler in distress. After the assisting he kept paddling hard and almost catched up the top paddlers. A great act of sportsmanship and human kindness. Big respect to TJ. Jacobs was later upgraded to a split first place. Kate McGrath won the women’s class in front of Katarina Wilkinson and Trudi Barnes.
