German Seamasters 2014
The Wave Rider in Sweden was not the only surfski race in north Europe last saturday. The first German Seamasters also took place on the same day. Dawid Mocke (South Africa) won the race followed by Joep van Bakel (Netherlands) and Michael Dobler (Germany) finished third. Anne Petruschat won the women’s class followed by Carola Cordes and Juia Schatz.
The German Seamasters seems to be worth a visit. Dawid Mocke thought the race was great and enjoyed his stay in Germany. Joep stated afterwards that it was a “Hard race with more waves against us than with us”. Michael Dobler recommended the race. The organization was good and with a little luck it could have been a perfect downwind “.
I hope the race organizations of the German Seamasters and the Wave Rider plan the race dates together next year. The ferry between Kiel and Göteborg makes it simple for potential participants to visit both races.
